MULTIFRACTAL ANALYSIS OF SOIL RESISTANCE TO PENETRATION IN DIFFERENT PEDOFORMS

چکیده

ABSTRACT Soils are highly variable across landscapes, which can be assessed and characterized according to scale, as well fractal multifractal concepts of scale. Thus, the objective this study was analyze multifractality penetration resistance (PR) vertical profiles from different slope forms (concave convex). The experimental plot incorporated 44.75 ha, PR measured at 70 sampling points in 0-0.6 m layer, distributed concave (Type A: 38 points) convex pedoforms B: 32 points). Data analysis performed using value (every 0.01 depth) for each (PRmean), their respective maximum (Prmaximun) minimum (PRminimum) values. Multifractal assess changes structure, heterogeneity, uniformity characterizing partition function, generalized dimension, singularity spectrum. parameters dimension spectrum demonstrated greater homogeneity pedoform B (convex) compared those A (concave). values showed greatest scale indicating that terms soil management, it is more relevant monitor than allowed us describe heterogeneity data on scales not evaluated by conventional methods, with high potential use precision agriculture delimitation specific management zones.

Multifractal analysis of vertical profiles of soil penetration resistance at the field scale

Soil penetration resistance (PR) is widely used as an indirect indicator of soil strength. Soil PR is linked to basic soil properties and correlated to root growth and plant production, and as such it is extensively used as a practical tool for assessing soil compaction and to evaluate the effects of soil management. This study investigates how results from multifractal analysis can quantify ke...

Multifractal Analysis of Soil Surface Roughness

Soil surface roughness (SSR) is a parameter highly suited to the study of soil susceptibility to wind and water erosion. The development of a methodology for quantifying SSR is therefore instrumental to soil evaluation. We developed such a method, based on the multifractal analysis (MFA) of soil elevation measurements collected at the intersections on a 2by 2-cm grid in a 200by 200-cm plot. Sam...

multifractal characteristics of soil particle size distribution and effect of biological soil crusts on multifractal spectrum

soil particle-size distribution (psd) is one of the most important physical attributes due to its great influence on soil physical, chemical, and biological properties. water infiltration rate, land-use change, soil erosion, and biological soil crusts (bscs) may influence psd in a soil. the multifractal measures were useful tools in characterization of psd in soils. the objective of the current...
